Personal profile

Jan Martin is Senior Lecturer in English as a Foreign Language in the Humanities Faculty and a teacher trainer for TEFL. She previously lectured in EFL and German at Loughborough College and Warwick University before joining Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ in 1999. Originally, Jan worked in Germany at the Oberstufen Kolleg of the Universitaet Bielefeld and also in the private sector including one-to-one business English. 

She was the Subject Leader for the undergraduate Joint Honours TEFL degree and is one of the CELTA trainers at De Montfort.  She is also involved in commercial general English courses and English for Academic Purposes. She enjoys designing teaching materials from authentic texts.

Her research interests include TEFL methodology, teacher training and business English. Jan is also an external oral examiner for BEC examinations run by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate.
