The Worshipful Company of Dyers Scholarship

The Dyers Company has encouraged and supported the Craft of dyeing since the 12th century. Its present day activities centre on the continuing development of colour science and the use of colour in textile design through strong educational connections. The continuing support of The Dyers Company has provided support for students through a final year competition, equipement and dyes. A new scholarship looks to support students from low-income backgrounds to complete an undergraduate degree that includes a focus on dye and colouration techniques - Textile Design BA (Hons), Fashion Textile Design BA (Hons), Fashion Design BA (Hons). The scholarship is for £5,000 per year of study. 

  1. Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible, students must:
    1. have made Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ their firm choice for the first year of a new full time BA/BSc undergraduate degree programme at Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ in the current academic year (not distance learning)
    2. Be a home/fee paying student — have a UK Student Support Number (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish students)
    3. Apply online to be income assessed by Student Finance
    4. Demonstrate financial need — household income must indicate that students are eligible for means-tested support from Student Finance with a household income of up to and including £50,000
    5. Be paying tuition fees under the new tuition fee regime of £9,250 or £9,535
    6. Be self-funding — your course of study must not be externally funded
    7. Hold no other form of donor or university funded scholarship

  2. Terms and Conditions

    1. This scholarship is not transferrable.
    2. The data on your student finance record must meet the award edibility criteria. In order to be able to be fully assessed against the criteria you must:
      1. Have completed your student finance application and it must have been assessed and finalised by your relevant UK student finance authority.
      2. Have signed and returned your student declaration form to the SLC.
      3. Ensure your relevant UK student finance authority record is available to Âéw¶¹´«Ã½. Therefore, you must have given permission for your information to be shared with the university.
      4. Ensure that your parents/sponsors have given student finance their permission for their information to be shared with Âéw¶¹´«Ã½.
    3. Student records must include bank details in order for the scholarship to be paid, as the scholarship is paid directly into a student's bank account by Âéw¶¹´«Ã½. If your student record is not in a position for payment to be made, your payment will be delayed or not made at all.
    4. The scholarship will be paid in instalments in line with Âéw¶¹´«Ã½â€™s normal Bursary and Scholarship payment schedule, which is once per term.
    5. Any scholarship payments made by Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ after a student has interrupted their studies or withdrawn from the university will normally be recovered from the student.
    6. Any scholarship payment made by Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ in error OR paid as a result of false information submitted will normally be recovered from the student.
    7. If a payment is not received, it is the responsibility of the student to urgently contact the Scholarships Team at Âéw¶¹´«Ã½, so that the non-payment can be investigate
