This course is designed for both recent graduates hoping to make their first move into engineering management, and for established professional engineers who wish to work in a management role and need to extend their knowledge beyond their technical field into management and business.

Linking business knowledge with engineering and sustainable development issues, this course emphasises key areas of modern management required by engineers and develops your skills in project management, information systems management and people management.

The broad and challenging content will help equip you with the knowledge needed to work in management positions within engineering companies and in technical roles in business settings.

What you will study

Engineering Business Environment and Research Methods

Examines how engineering businesses can make a positive contribution to environmental, social, and economic sustainability, along with approaches to research to help you prepare for your final individual research project dissertation.

Resource Efficient Design & Manufacturing

Emphasises efficiency and sustainable low carbon approaches to manufacturing and design practices.

Digital Transformations

Covers the opportunities in transforming environmental aspects around us including businesses and, to demonstrate the great potential of Information Systems (IS) in digitalisation to support such a level of transformations.

Entrepreneurship and Strategic Decision Making

Students will gain in-depth perspectives on entrepreneurship and strategic decision-making as an activity to teach students how individuals solve problems and thus arrive at the decisions that make-or-break organizations and industries

Our technicians and academics will support you in your individual project–a substantial piece of work in your final semester that will link your technical specialism with core aspects of management.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally hold an undergraduate degree in any subject with a minimum pass of 2:2, or equivalent overseas qualification.
Professional qualifications deemed to be of equivalent standing will be considered on an individual basis.

Work experience is not a requirement.

English language tests and their entry requirements

IELTS Academic: 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each band)

TOEFL Internet-based: 72 (17 in listening & writing, 20 in speaking and 18 in reading)

Pearson PTE Academic: 51

Additionally, students with the following qualifications may be considered as having met the English language requirements:

GCSE/IGCSE/O-Level English (as a first or second language): Grade C or higher

CBSE/ISC boards/NIOS/All state boards: A minimum grade of 55% in English

International Baccalaureate: Minimum grade 5 in English A1 (Standard or Higher Level) in IB OR a minimum of grade 5 in English B (Higher Level)

West African/Nigerian Curriculum WAEC/ WASSCE/ SSSCE: Minimum grade "C6"
