Wellbeing
HealthyÂéw¶¹´«Ã½ is our whole-university approach to student wellbeing at Âéw¶¹´«Ã½. We want you to achieve your full potential whilst studying here and we have developed a programme of tools and activities that focus on developing skills which can support you in your studies and placements.
Our Wellbeing Team offers you the opportunity to talk in confidence to someone separate from your work, social and family life. It is a space for you to access support, whether that be related to academic pressures, mental health and wellbeing concerns or practical issues that are causing you stress or worry. You can book an appointment with the team at any point in the year.
The Wellbeing Team offers a range of Healthy Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ Masterclasses that can support you to develop key skills such as personal productivity, emotional awareness and resilience, assertive and confident communication, performing under pressure and mindfulness.
We are very proud of our diverse community at Âéw¶¹´«Ã½ and we want you to know that if you have a mental health condition, medical need or disability, we are here to discuss your support options. If you are a home student from the UK, you might also be able to access Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) in order to fund specialist 1:1 mental health, mentor support throughout your studies.
Contact the Wellbeing Team via their email address wellbeing@dmu.ac.uk or by booking a Single Point of Access appointment. A Single Point of Access Appointment or SPA is a 45 minute appointment and an opportunity to discuss your situation with a member of the Wellbeing Team. You will be offered advice on the day and referral to relevant support staff within student welfare or external services. At the end of the appointment, you will be given an action plan of what to do next. You can book one via MyGateway.
If you would like to inform the University of a disability or mental health condition please complete and submit the Student Support Consent form.
